Oleg Melnichenko and Yuri Shuleiko held a working meeting in Minsk.
The head of the region briefed the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus on the steady implementation of the initiatives defined by the Joint Working Group on Cooperation between the two sides.
"Our officials meet with their Belarusian counterparts on average twice a month," noted the governor. "This fall, we will hold the fourth meeting of the Working Group in Penza."
From 2021 to 2023, Yuri Shuleiko led the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Penza Region while serving as Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.
"The initial objectives we set together at the regional level continue to spark interest each year for further action," said the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.
The development of relations is backed by economic indicators. In 2024, foreign trade turnover between the Penza Oblast and the Republic of Belarus grew by 30%.
The Penza Oblast continues to strengthen its industrial and agricultural potential. The region manufactures 70% of all Russian biomedical products. Penza-made products account for over 60% of the domestic markets in refueling equipment and advanced security technologies.
"We are number one in the Volga Federal District for production of case furniture," Oleg Melnichenko added, also noting growth in agricultural output.
The governor outlined several projects aimed at further developing interregional relations. Among the new proposals are initiatives in industry and agriculture that will benefit both Penza and Belarusian enterprises.
Oleg Melnichenko also expressed special thanks to Yuri Shuleiko for his support in organizing the Penza Oblast Days.
The program, running from April 1 to 7, includes two economic forums, an exhibition of Penza-made products and a food tasting event, concerts featuring top creative groups from the Penza Oblast, sports competitions, visits to industrial enterprises and educational institutions, and tours of memorial sites and landmarks in the Republic of Belarus.
