The Penza delegation's visit to Uzbekistan concluded in Bukhara Oblast, with which the region signed a cooperation agreement in 2024. That earlier meeting marked the first acquaintance between Oleg Melnichenko and Botir Zaripov.
The regional leaders held another working session to discuss prospects for deeper collaboration.
"Over the past year, we've conducted analytical work on our action plan. We have strong potential— now it's time to intensify our efforts. Our actions bear responsibility to the presidents of our countries," emphasized Oleg Melnichenko.
The governor noted that the Penza delegation included representatives of major enterprises eager to partner with Uzbekistan, particularly Bukhara Oblast.
Key areas of discussion included Penza’s leading producers:
Damate Group (agribusiness)
MedInzh (medical engineering)
SV-Mebel (furniture manufacturing)
A confectionery company plans to establish production in Bukhara. Zaripov ordered follow-up negotiations.
In agricultural trade, Penza seeks imports of dried and seasonal fruits, while offering access to its supermarket chains.
Tourism and education were highlighted as additional cooperation avenues.
Bukhara’s advantages include geographic centrality in Uzbekistan, abundant sunshine, mineral-rich soil, and Amu Darya River water—key to the country’s famed pomegranates.
The meeting sets the stage for practical collaboration between the Russian and Uzbek regions.
