The Governor of Penza Oblast and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, who also serves as Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars, discussed the activities of the Tatar National-Cultural Autonomy of Penza Oblast.
The meeting took place during the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum" in Kazan.
Penza Oblast has historically been a multi-ethnic region. According to the 2020 Russian Census, Tatars represent the second largest ethnic group among more than 100 nationalities residing in the region, with approximately 74,000 Tatar residents.
The Tatar National-Cultural Autonomy of Penza Oblast has been actively working for over 20 years to preserve and develop Tatar culture, language, and traditions.
During the meeting, participants acknowledged the significant efforts of this regional public organization. The discussion was also attended by Danis Shakirov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars.
