The governor participated in a panel session of the International Software Engineers Conference (SECON), being held in the region for the 13th time.
The SECON'2025 program features 92 experts from 21 Russian regions, including solution architects, technical directors, entrepreneurs, and researchers. These are representatives of major Russian IT companies and leaders of regional teams developing products of national significance.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has identified the digital sphere as a priority and set the task of achieving technological leadership. This is our strategic objective. The head of state initiated the national project 'Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State'," stated Oleg Melnichenko.
He emphasized that developing the IT sector and digital infrastructure is also a priority for Penza Oblast. In 2024, tax revenues from IT companies grew by 68%.
"Since 2021, our region has offered a preferential 1% tax rate under the simplified taxation system for IT companies. Today, the Penza Oblast Legislative Assembly passed a law extending this measure until the end of 2026," the head of the region informed conference participants.
The governor toured the exhibition stands of IT companies set up in the lobby of the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, reviewed company developments, assessed robot capabilities, and discussed with participants the prospects for using artificial intelligence in industry, healthcare, and education.
"IT sector employees are the people driving our economy forward. They always bring creativity, fresh ideas, and new development directions," he noted.
