The sugar beet processing season continues in the region, with all three sugar factories operational.
To date, factories located within the region have processed over 2.6 million tons of sugar beets, producing 330,000 tons of sugar.
Overall, for the season, sugar factories plan to receive and process approximately 3 million tons of sugar beets and produce over 400,000 tons of sugar.
The regional Ministry of Agriculture notes that the sugar needs of the oblast's population will be met by more than forty times. The remaining sugar will be shipped to regions in the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East.
