On 28 March 2018, Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, held the board of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation in Moscow. At the event, the Penza region was represented by Andrey Luzgin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government.
Maksim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, delivered a report “On the performance of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia in 2017 and the key objectives for 2018”.
“In 2018, the Russian economy is reinvigorating. In 2017, the economic growth resumed after a two-year recession. According to the initial estimate made by Rosstat (Federal State Statistics Service), GDP increased by 1.5 per cent. It is expected that this year the economy will continue to rise at a rate of about 2 per cent,” Maksim Oreshkin noted.
Within the board, the special emphasis was placed on improving business climate, promoting technological development of economic sectors, increasing productivity, encouraging social and economic development of Russian regions, stimulating digital economy and foreign economic activity and other topics.
In addition, a public statement of goals and objectives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia for 2018 was released at the board.
The priorities include: providing affordable funding for entrepreneurs in terms of concessional lending and micro-financing, creating a mechanism to support investment projects of real-economy enterprises aimed at advancing the system of project finance, developing mechanisms of public-private partnership, and improving public services through multifunctional centres.
“The identified objectives coincide with the core activities of the Government of the Penza region. They are aimed at establishing new high-tech industries, upgrading enterprises, supporting export-oriented companies, and boosting competition. The accomplishment of these objectives will influence the effectiveness of social and economic development of the region and the improvement in living standards and welfare of people,” Andrey Luzgin commented on the results of the board.
