The business meeting was held in the Governor’s House in Penza on Wednesday, 25 April 2018.
“I am very pleased to see you again in the Penza region,” the governor addressed the company representatives. “In 2017, we signed an agreement on implementing the joint project initiated by Aviagen Turkeys Ltd. and Damate Group. This project is aimed at creating a parent flock in Nikolsky sub-district. We welcomed your proposal for cooperation, as Aviagen Turkeys Ltd. is the world leader in the field of genetics and poultry breeding. But I think you would hardly enter our region, if you did not see that Damate Group is developing dynamically”.
“Last year, Aleksandr Tkachev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, visited the Penza region. He appreciated the project on expanding the turkey meat processing plant. In June this year, we plan to launch it, which means that additional poultry breeding sites will appear,” Ivan Belozertsev added.
“But there are some work-related issues associated with observing the regulations of the Russian legislation. We strive to follow them rigorously,” he noted. “We need time for technical procedures. The construction of roads requires design specifications and estimates, which should be examined. We need to hold tenders to define the contractor for this work. It takes time and money, but we would not like to delay the implementation of the project”.
“If the holding carries out this work at its expense, we will find an opportunity to reimburse all costs for it in 2019,” the head of the region summarised.
Clay Michael Burrows, Managing Director of Aviagen Turkeys Ltd., thanked Ivan Belozertsev for the assistance provided by the regional government within the investment project on creating turkey parent flocks.
“We are delighted to make contribution to the development of poultry business,” Clay Michael Burrows emphasised. “We were aware of the time constraints that we will have to take into account. We are sincerely grateful to the regional authorities for doing everything possible to help our project”.
“We are ready to bear all costs now with the option to obtain compensation in the future. In any business it is crucially important not to be late. This is a matter of economic security. All project participants are interested in completing technical and engineering procedures as soon as possible,” the managing director of Aviagen Turkeys Ltd. concluded.
