Before the beginning of the official part, the head of the region visited the exhibition of the Museum of Local Lore, got acquainted with the composition of the food group produced in the territory of the Penza region, and also with the works taking part in the regional contest of children's drawings "Agriculture through the eyes of children".

In his speech to the workers of the agro-industrial complex of the Penza region, Ivan Belozertsev noted positive changes in the sphere of agriculture and processing industry.

"I can state with certainty that the agro-industrial complex of the Penza region has made a huge breakthrough in recent years. Thanks to your invaluable work, experience and knowledge, careful attitude to your native land, use of modern agrarian technologies, we do not hand over advanced positions - the region's agriculture is successfully developing, continues to confidently demonstrate growth, remaining the driver of the region's economy. And I heartily congratulate all of you! "- the head of the regional executive authority addressed the representatives of the industry.

"The contribution of agribusiness workers to the gross regional product to date is almost 15%. The volume of gross agricultural output is more than 90 billion rubles. In terms of the growth rate of agricultural production, the Penza region ranks first in the Volga Federal District during the last 15 years, " - he recalled.

"As you know,- said the governor. - Back in 2016 we set ourselves the task of annually receiving at least two million tons of grain and leguminous crops. And this year they exceeded this figure - they collected 2.5 million tons. Yields broke all previous records - on average in the region, it amounted to 36 q / ha. This is the 1 st place in the Volga Federal District. "

He also positively evaluated the results obtained after the harvest of sugar beet, potatoes and other vegetables.

The head of the subject of the Federation drew particular attention to the success of animal husbandry. In terms of growth rates and the volume of meat production among VFD regions, the Penza region ranks second.
"This was largely facilitated by the implementation of the investment project of the Damate Group of companies, which allowed our region to take the first place in Russia in terms of the production of turkey meat," Ivan Belozertsev informed.

"Dairy farming demonstrated it’s good indicators. The volumes of production of quality milk are increasing every year. According to the results of 2017, it is planned to produce 337 thousand tons of milk. For the first time the productivity will be 5 600 kg, which is 9% more than the level of the previous year, " - he added.

The head of the Penza region urged not to reduce investment activity in agriculture, to increase the volume of production of livestock and poultry, milk. In addition, to maintain the leading positions in the yield of grain crops and sugar beet, continue to work on the introduction of empty agricultural lands in circulation. This year introduced instead of 50 planned - 57 thousand hectares. The task for 2018 is to return 45 thousand hectares of vacant land to a crop rotation.

Ivan Belozertsev presented awards related to the conferment of the honorary title "Honored Worker of Agriculture of the Penza Region". The winners of the competition in the field "Agriculture" in 2017  and laureates of the children's drawing contest on "Agriculture through the eyes of children" were awarded.

The chairman of the Association on the faith of Dimitrov Peter Stepaniuc addressed to the governor On behalf of farmers.

"We know how much energy you give to your work in order for the villagers to live better. We know how subtly you approach the technologies of growing crops. We know how quickly you perceive the problems that are in the village, and solve them ", - stated the head of agricultural production.

"And it's no coincidence that the Penza region is confidently leading in the Volga Federal District. It is no coincidence that many of the regional economies achieve results at the level of advanced enterprises in Belarus and the Krasnodar Territory. And today, on behalf of the villagers, I would like to once again thank you for the attention you pay to agriculture and representatives of the processing industry, " - he concluded.
Agrarians handed Ivan Belozertsev a glass vessel with grain of the current crop and an inscription - 2500000, symbolizing a figure of two and a half million tons of harvested grain. According to the governor, this is the most expensive gift that farmers could present to him. The present will be kept in the museum of the head of the region.
