The governor of the Penza region suggested opening specialized Centres of Competence which will train young professionals, participants of professional excellence competition WorldSkills Russia.
Penza College of Architecture and Building will open a centre specializing in welding, metalworking. Penza College of Food Processing Industry and Commerce will open a centre of cooking and patisserie making.
Two Centres of Competence have already been opened in Penza, one specializing in brick manufacture and one in sports training.
The major aim of these centres is to provide efficient training for young professionals and prepare them for participation in professional excellence competitions. The centres also provide certification for specialists, which increases their career opportunities. In 2016-2018 144 people have finished the courses in Penza, 20 more are still in training and will finish it by the end of the year.
Six young professionals from Penza took part in the WorldSkills Russia competition in 2018. The contestants from Penza earned a gold medal in ‘Sports and physical training’ category and received four awards for oustanding professionalism in decorating and repairs, catering, patisserie making, medical and laboratory testing.
