On Friday, February 8th, 2019, the Governor visited the cathedral under construction.

“This building is included into the “Russian Culture” target program. The Federal Support attaches a special status to this construction project and implies commitment. On the opening of the Spasskiy Cathedral Penza region is expecting to welcome Patriarch Kirill” – informed the Head of the region on a meeting with the clergy and the contractors.

The building already has pipelines and networks laid, and a part of interior finishing works have been completed. The Governor advised to pay special attention to the finishing quality of the orthodox center as well as to improvement and landscaping of the Cathedral square.

“I earnestly ask you to meet the deadline of construction works. Please, consider a possibility of working 2 or 3 shifts. I request you to finish the current stage of construction involving scaffolding till March 10th – 15th, and then to quickly remove the falsework to proceed to the next stage, - said the Governor. – We meet again with partners from Moscow, weigh up all the possibilities and must complete the construction by the end of this year. We should discuss the specifics and solve problems immediately”.

In the course of a meeting in the Penza eparchy that took place after the construction site review, the Governor was reported about planned works and financing volumes required to complete the reconstruction of the Spasskiy Cathedral. Questions regarding the interior design were also considered. In 2018 over 146,5 mil. rubles were channeled for the Cathedral construction.
