The Governor conducted a field meeting on matters of construction of the cathedral on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019.
In 2018 an application submitted by the Penza diocese to receive funding from the federal target program “Culture of Russia” was accepted. The diocese requested funds to create stucco molding and panels from natural rock inside the Spas Cathedral. The documents were prepared and proved eligible.
“A lot of work has been accomplished, we are finally getting close to the finish line, - noted Ivan Belozertsev. – We should all together help complete the construction of the main cathedral of Penza region. In September-October I’m planning to invite Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus, to the opening of the Spas Cathedral”.
After the 20th of April it is planned to dismantle scaffolding from the cathedral in order to conduct the Easter service.
