On May 1, the all-Russian Windows of Victory campaign organised by Rosmolodezh, the Russian Movement of Schoolchildren and the Memory of Generations Foundation was launched.
The campaign participants decorated the windows of their homes and educational organisations in memory of relatives who took part in the Second World War: they cut out paper silhouettes of cranes and recognisable Great Patriotic War memorials turning the cities' streets into real galleries of memory.
PolinaPashina from Tamala, participant of the all-Russian Windows of Victory campaign, said that this was a great opportunity for her to turn the streets into a gallery of memory and gratitude to all veterans. "Creating Windows of Victory we recall our heroes, thanks to whom we now live," Polina said.
"The campaign is very important. Due to the difficult situation with the virus, we will not be able to celebrate Victory Day as we used to. We must remember our great-grandfathers' feats. Even if it is not possible to go out on the street, we will turn the streets themselves into a gallery of glory," Polina Sakaulina from Kuznetsk expressed her opinion about the campaign.
It was simple to join the #Окна_Победы (Windows of Victory) campaign: in memory of all participants in the war people decorated the windows of their homes with silhouettes of cranes, according to the number of relatives who fought, contributing to the Victory, or just lived in that difficult time, so that every window reflected the Nation's great feat.
Students, nursery schoolchildren, their parents and all Penza Oblast residents were invited to participate.
