Oleg Melnichenko held a working meeting with Yevgeny Primakov, head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum on Thursday, June 3, 2021.
In the beginning, the acting head of the Penza Oblast noted that the region is ready to promote its cultural projects and to attract the attention of guests arriving there from abroad.
"The Penza Oblast has many talents. We have modern cultural facilities – theatres, museums, a cinema and concert hall, a philharmonic hall," he stated, also recalling the prominent figures of science and culture whose lives are connected with the Penza Oblast.
Yevgeny Primakov mentioned several projects, naming the "New Generation" one as an example.
"This is a programme of short-term visits to Russia by small groups. I think it would be interesting for you to show your cultural organisations to foreign guests who come here for internships. The support from the region could consist in reducing the cost of living, establishing logistics and organising a cultural programme," the head of Rossotrudnichestvo explained.
"The next thing is to create a project together with the association of youth centres, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, so that volunteers of different ages have the opportunity to go to any country and work there in the local non-governmental sphere like a theatre, a hospital or an environmental organisation. Now we are negotiating with universities that have the means to send their students annually," he added.
During the meeting, an agreement on cooperation between the Penza Oblast and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States was signed. The document provides for joint activities to develop international relations of the Penza Oblast in the scientific, technical, educational, cultural and business spheres.
