On Friday, August 6, 2021, at the meeting with Hamad Hassan, Minister of Health of the Lebanese Republic, the Penza Oblast acting governor noted that our region is open for international cooperation, including that in the field of higher education.
"We have a good medical school and excellent specialists in microbiology and virology," Oleg Melnichenko stated.
"Not everyone in the world agrees that our vaccine is the best, but this has been proven by experience," he stressed.
The head of the Ministry of Health of the Lebanese Republic called Sputnik V one of the most effective and safe vaccines. He said that his visit to Russia is due to the COVID-19 problems in his country and announced the signing of an agreement on the supply of Russian vaccines to Lebanon.
He also noted the high level of education in Russia, especially that in the field of medicine.
"And I am proud that I am a Russian university graduate," Hamad Hassan emphasised.
"We will try our best to educate our students in Russia, especially in Penza, for us to have good specialists working in Lebanese hospitals," he outlined the prospects for cooperation.
Notably that in 2015-2019, the Penza State University concluded a number of cooperation agreements with Lebanese partner universities. A lot of work has been done on international cooperation.
In particular, as part of the agreement with the National Arab-Russian Association, in April 2019 the first internship of Penza students in journalism was organised in Lebanese information and educational organisations.
In July 2019, ten students of the medical and dental faculties of the PSU Medical Institute conducted their first practice at the Lebanese-French Hospital in the city of Beqaa.
A Russian-Arab cultural centre has been organized at the PSU where Russian students learn Arabic, and Arabic students learn Russian while communicating with each other.
Now, 100 people from the Lebanese Republic are studying at different faculties of the PSU. Most of them are students of the Medical Institute who master medical science and dentistry. In 2021, seven representatives of Lebanon graduated from the Medical Institute.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to increase cooperation in training Lebanese students at the Penza universities, carrying on exchange programmes, as well as using high-tech medical devices manufactured in the Penza Oblast.
