Vasily Shpak, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, announced that during a conversation with journalists at the opening of the "Effective models for introducing innovations in the medical industry and healthcare" forum ("InnoMed"), held at the Rameyev Technopark on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

"InnoMed" is held by the Penza Oblast Government together with the federal authorities. Now the forum is all-Russian.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation said he thought that "InnoMed" could gain an international status.

"We need to set these goals and to achieve them," Vasily Shpak noted. "We have a large domestic market, but still it is not enough to ensure the return on those investments that are necessary for modern developments. In order to confirm the quality of products, to be at the forefront and to earn more, it is necessary to export out production."

"We have talked to Oleg Melnichenko, we will actively develop it as an innovative medical equipment platform where we could present our joint projects, and in addition to enterprises that develop medical equipment, also production in the field of telemedicine and digital technologies," he added.

"The whole world is moving in this direction, we must also pick up this trend and put it on the international agenda. We will definitely provide all the necessary assistance and support to the region in terms of organising a forum in this filed," Vasily Shpak summed up.

Oleg Melnichenko stressed that the Penza biomedical cluster has good opportunities to bring its products to the foreign market.

"In fact, we are probably the first in the Russian market for artificial valves, and in general, we are also known for production of suture material. I see quite great prospects for international economic cooperation," Oleg Melnichenko emphasised.

"This is a good technological basis for our region, it is an opportunity for our scientific personnel to show their knowledge and creativity. Accordingly, the training of personnel in the field of biomedical technologies also opens up new prospects for our region," he summed up.
