Last weekend, the House of Officers hosted an exhibition of models made at Penza centres of youth creativity, organised as part of the Gagarin Fest cosmonautics festival.
The main theme of the event was space. Young engineers presented their technical projects dedicated to the exploration and study of outer space and planets. Moreover, visitors could see the best works of the "UNI ROBOT" competition held as part of the festival.
Children and their parents were very interested in visiting the Cosmonautics Museum, where they could try on a real cosmonaut's helmet, find out their weight on other planets, see some tellurium samples, a black hole, find a meteorite fragment and much more. The lecturers of the "Open Space" scientific show told what difficulties the first people who landed on Mars will face and what can happen in space travel and answered the questions of the audience.
Most importantly, visitors could meet Aleksandr Samokutyayev, cosmonaut, Hero of Russia. He told the children how the call sign "Tarkhany" was chosen, recounted about the problems astronauts face in space, the problem of space debris and even predicted when the colonisation of other planets will begin.
The Festival, held from September 4 to 19 as part of the Year of Science and Technology, will give children and teenagers an opportunity to form a general idea about cosmonautics and space, and, no less important, to recall the achievements of Soviet and Russian space heroes. The initiators of the Gagarin Fest cosmonautics festival were representatives of the region's Centre for Youth Innovation Creativity and the business community with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund and the Penza Oblast Ministry of Industry.
