Vyacheslav Kosmachyov, the region's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, stated this at a press conference held on Monday, December 6, 2021.
According to him, the number of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals has decreased by five- six times, compared with the peak period in October this year.
"We have deployed the maximum number of beds – 4,700, and at the moment the additional bed capacity (repurposed to fight an infectious disease) is 2,024 beds in the Penza Oblast as of this morning. As fas ar hospitalisation is concerned, at peak periods 400-430 patients were hospitalised per day, but this morning there are 66 of them. And these are patients who are only suspected coronavirus. Not all of them really are down with COVID," Vyacheslav Kosmachyov cited statistics.
"Taking into account this level of hospitalisation, with repurposing I've mentioned above, at the moment there are 12 medical institutions helping infectious patients. At peak times, 24 medical institutions were repurposed. In Penza COVID patients get treated at the following institutions: the Centre for the Specialised Types of Medical Care, the Burdenko Regional Hospital, the 4th hospital, the branch of the 6th city hospital on Gagarin Street - these are well-equipped hospitals. We also have a department of the Regional Children's Hospital providing assistance to children with infectious pathologies including COVID. There are 30 beds in the Regional Psychiatric Hospital and an infectious department in medical unit No. 59 in Zarechny", he informed.
There are also infectious diseases departments in all inter-district hospitals in Kuznetsk, Lomov, Serdobsk, Kamenka. These medical institutions also provide assistance to patients with COVID-19.
"Taking into account the current level of morbidity, outpatient units have already switched to another mode of work. These are town, inter-district and district hospitals, outpatient hospitals and first-aid stations," Vyacheslav Kosmachyov listed.
"Earlier we completely stopped reception of patients for a while, so they received only emergency medical care by teams of district therapists and medical specialists, whom we retrained for district therapists. Now outpatient hospitals went back to the usual mode of work, and it is possible to visit a medical specialist. The regional advisory outpatient hospital works at full, mobile complexes, mobile fluorographs and mammographs have started working again," he added.
Thus, the visiting form of outpatient hospital activity has been resumed in full.
In addition to visiting medical and nursing teams mobile vaccination teams are being formed at outpatient hospitals now. Such teams are considered social and medical, since in addition to medical workers, they include representatives of social services. They are to work in remote settlements of the Penza Oblast.
