On August 10, the final of the Spartakiad of Russian students in triathlon started in the Penza Oblast. The competitions, which are attended by 67 athletes from 17 regions of the country, are held at the Chistye Prudy recreation centre.
The opening ceremony was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Penza Oblast Oleg Yagov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Evgeniya Bochkaryova, and Head of the Mokshansky District Nikolay Tikhomirov.
"The Chistye Prudy recreation centre is the pearl of the Penza region. We are glad that triathlon has finally returned to Penza land," Oleg Yagov said. - I wish all participants of the final good luck and may the strongest win."
"The path to the big sport begins with the first step. You have already taken your first steps – you have proved that you are one of the best. Therefore, today you are in the final of the Spartakiad. I wish you to show your best results!", – Evgenia Bochkaryova addressed the participants.
On the first day, boys and girls competed for medals in the sprint: at the first stage – swimming for half a kilometre, at the second – a 13-kilometre cycling race, at the third – a 3.5-kilometre race.
Following the results of the first day of the competition, the athlete of the Penza Oblast Anastasia Noskova won the bronze medal of the Spartakiad.
On the second day of the competition, a relay race will take place, in which two boys and two girls will compete for the team. Each participant at his or her stage will need to swim 250 m, cycle 6.5 km and run 1.7 km.
