A working meeting of the delegation of the Federation Council Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation with the head of the Penza Oblast and regional parliamentarians took place in the Legislative Assembly of the Penza Oblast on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
The discussion was attended by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Regulations and Organization of Parliamentary Activities Vyacheslav Timchenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Aleksei Mayorov, and their fellow senators.
The program of the two-day visit included the executive and legislative authorities of the Penza Oblast, as well as visits to industrial enterprises, agricultural processing companies, and housing construction.
Addressing the senators, the governor said that by the end of last year, the industrial production index in the Penza Oblast exceeded the national average and amounted to 104.3%.
"We have started to develop the machine-tool industry and instrument-making. The production of medical devices and medicines, and furniture is on the rise," Oleg Melnichenko added.
The head of the region also announced the target for housing commissioning - 920 thousand square meters. In January-March, more than 168 thousand square meters of housing have already been commissioned, which is four times more than last year.
The head of the Federation Council Committee on Regulations and Organization of Parliamentary Activities Vyacheslav Timchenko explained the purpose of the visit: on behalf of the President, the senators are studying the mechanism of control and supervisory activities in the regions in order to fine-tune it regarding business support.
The senator noted that the Penza Oblast has managed to create an atmosphere of trust in the business environment, which allows enterprises to develop successfully.
