Regional Branch of International Public Organization "World Council of Russian People" Established in Penza
Society 04.05.2023
The constituent assembly of the regional branch of the International Public Organization "World Russian People's Cathedral" (VRNS) was held at the Spiritual and Educational Center of the Penza Oblast at the city Cathedral.
Konstantin Malofeyev, Deputy Head of the VRNS, attended the event as an honorary guest.
Metropolitan Seraphim of Penza and Nizhny Lomov addressed the audience: "In our difficult time, people respond to the needs of their neighbors, migrants, children, and military personnel. We must pick up this wave of aspiration to serve our Motherland and turn it to the benefit of our large and multinational country, and to make our contribution to the common good cause."
The participants of the meeting unanimously supported the creation of the regional branch of the VRNS, elected members of the board and the head of the secretariat. The Board was co-chaired by Vladyka Seraphim, Vadim Supikov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza Region, and First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Oleg Yagov.
"Today, a historic event is taking place on the Penza land. This date will be remembered, because today an organization is being created that is the most important, the most necessary and which will determine the vector of development of our society for 30 or even 50 years ahead. I convey words of gratitude to Konstantin Malofeyev from the Governor of the Penza Oblast Oleg Melnichenko, who fully supports this idea. He clearly indicated that without the joint efforts of the executive, legislative authorities and the Russian Orthodox Church, it will be impossible for us to fulfill the tasks of the organization," Oleg Yagov said.
Konstantin Malofeev appealed to take a personal part in the creation of new meanings and ideas that will be submitted to the Council in November 2023. "Not a single liberal concept of Russia's development has come true. Now we are writing our future — the Russian people, who are not going to leave anywhere. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, the image of Russia – 2050 was painted. I am sure it will be supported by everyone," summed up the deputy head of the VRNS.
The Speaker of the regional parliament, Vadim Supikov, thanked the founders, which included representatives of the clergy, legislative and executive authorities, civil society, for their high trust, emphasizing the importance of the creative activity of the Cathedral in opposition to the collective West.
Pavel Maslov, Minister of Internal and Information Policy of the Penza Oblast, joined the board of the regional branch of the organization.
Over the past two decades, the VRNS has been able to establish itself both as a social movement and as an important expert platform; in 2001 and 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at its events.
The participation of the president is planned for the upcoming 2023 Council in the Kremlin Palace. The Jubilee Council of 2023 will be a landmark event. The VRNS member regions will be provided with quotas for participation and work of the congress.
The Council operates in the whole country. By the time the organization started, there were only 18 branches, now 52 have been created in Russia.
At the initiative of the Council, councils are being created under the heads of the regions of Russia to preserve and strengthen traditional values and implement the state policy.
For reference:
The World Council of Russian People was created in the summer of 1993 in Moscow. It was initiated and inspired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, then Metropolitan. The Council was the assembly point of all people of good will so that Russia would not be divided into camps.
The purpose of the organization is to create a coalition of morally responsible and patriotically oriented forces of civil society.
The Council members developed and adopted the main conciliar documents: "A set of moral principles and rules in economic management", "Declaration on Human Rights and Dignity" and "Basic values – the basis of national identity". Documents that set the value vector of the development of the Russian State, shot down over the years of Western reforms.
The head of the Council is His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Deputy Heads of the Council:
- Dionysius, Metropolitan of Voskresensk (Pyotr Nikolaevich Porubai), First Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Managing Director of the Moscow Patriarchate, permanent member of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church;
- Konstantin V. Malofeyev, Chairman of the Society for the Development of Russian Historical Education "Double-Headed Eagle";
- Aleksandr V. Shchipkov, Head of the Scientific and Analytical Center of the VRNS, Head of the VRNS Culture Committee, Doctor of Political Sciences.
