Matvey Nikolayev, a student of the 7th grade of the Provincial Lyceum, became the winner of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of Schoolchildren in Geography.
The award ceremony of the prize-winners took place in Nizhny Novgorod. This year, 251 schoolchildren from 72 regions of Russia took part in the final stage. At the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University, the names of 24 winners and 105 prize-winners were announced at the closing ceremony of the Olympiad.
The participants of the Olympiad demonstrated their knowledge and practical skills during the theoretical and practical stages, and a field tour.
In their free time, the students took a tour of the historical part of Nizhny Novgorod and the university museum. The students also took part in master classes of student associations of the pedagogical university and an intellectual quiz.
The university staff conducted educational programs, master classes, and trainings for mentors and teachers.
In addition, participants not only passed the mandatory stages, but also competed in various extra events. This year they also took part in the experts' competition, which was held with the support of the Russian Geographical Society.
