The regional stage of the All-Russian marathon in support of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell donation #DavayVstupay took place in Penza.
The purpose of the marathon is to popularize bone marrow donation and involve more donors to help cancer patients.
The marathon started on September 1, 2023 in Ulan-Ude and will end on November 10 at the site of the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia". 25 stages have already been completed, the team of the marathon ambassador Artyom Aliskerov has already visited the cities of Siberia and the Ural. The runners completed more than 1000 kilometers. Penza hosted the marathon team today.
The route of the regional stage started from the Blood Donation Center and passed through historical and memorable places. The honorary right to start the race was granted to our countryman, a winner of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships Denis Ablyazin.
"Since 2022, the recruitment center of the Federal Register of Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors has been organized in the Penza Regional Clinical Blood Center," comments Tatiana Krylova, chief physician of the Center. - To join the register, you need to hand over only one test tube of blood and sign the necessary documents. Then the blood sample is sent to the laboratory for HLA typing, the genotype is determined, recorded into the register in encrypted and depersonalized form."
About 600 people have already joined the register. As part of the marathon, 60 Penza residents have become potential bone marrow donors. We are waiting for all concerned countrymen who are ready to join the register of bone marrow donors at the Blood Center: Penza, Kl. Tsetkin street, 41a (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM -- 1:00 PM).
