As part of the visit to China, the delegation of the Penza Oblast continued its work in Xianyang, Shaanxi province.
The Governor Oleg Melnichenko and the Vice-mayor of the People's Government of Xianyang Li Huichao took part in the grand opening of the innovation center of Science and Technology of the Xianyang high-tech zone.
Xianyang High-tech Zone was founded in 1992; in 2012 it received the status of a zone of national importance. Its work is based on the principle of industrial development, which contributes to the growth and modernization of leading industries:  biomedicine, production of electronic displays, high-tech equipment, and new synthetic materials.
Now there are 103 high-tech enterprises and 12 provincial technology centers operating here.
Li Huichao called the launch of the Joint Innovation Center for Science and Technology a significant step in strengthening friendly relations between our peoples. The winners of the Chinese-Russian Student Competition of Scientific and Technical Innovations were also awarded.
"The heads of our states have signed strategic documents on deepening partnership and cooperation, and the regions of Russia and China are moving towards achieving this goal," Oleg Melnichenko stressed. - This includes the qualitative expansion of cooperation in the fields of technology and innovation to ensure the technological leadership of our countries, the achievement of a higher quality of industrial cooperation, the formation of new production chains with the participation of industrial companies of the Russian Federation and China. The enterprises of the high-tech zone are relevant to the tasks set."
"One of the residents of the high-tech zone was a project created by a founder from the Penza Oblast," he added. - The StankoMashStroy enterprise is a modern high–tech plant specializing in the production of metalworking equipment, there the first machine-tool cluster in the Russian Federation was created. Due to the comprehensive support of the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and Xianyang City, our countrymen are creating a new enterprise here that produces metalworking centers. Machine tool construction is the flagship industry for a developed state. I am convinced that the implementation of this project will serve to strengthen cooperation between our countries."
The Protocol of Intent on mutual cooperation was signed by Oleg Kochetkov, General Director of StankoMashStroy, Sergey Matyukin, General Director of the Penza Region Development Corporation, and Mao Jianzhong, a representative of the Xianyang High-Tech Industry Development Zone Management Committee.
