The meeting of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District and the Governor of the Penza Oblast took place in the regional government.
Oleg Melnichenko thanked Igor Komarov for his attention to the region and outlined the key indicators of the socio-economic development of the region.
By the end of 2023, the Penza Oblast was among the ten regions of Russia with the highest industrial production index (114.1%), taking second place among the regions of the Volga Federal District. Due to the expansion of production in the industrial sector, 1,600 additional jobs have been created.
The agro-industrial complex has achieved high results: in terms of poultry meat production, the Penza Oblast is one of the five leaders in Russia and ranks first in the Volga Federal District. Food production increased by 8% in 2023, and exports of agricultural products increased by 55%. Penza products are exported to 50 countries around the world.
Small and medium-sized businesses are developing: their contribution to the gross regional product is more than 33%. According to this indicator, the Penza Oblast is the leader in the Volga Federal District and is among the top five in the Russian Federation.
In terms of housing provision, the Penza Oblast also ranks 1st in the district and 9th in the Russian Federation. In 2023, 938 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned.
By the end of 2023, more than 500 km of highways were repaired, built and reconstructed. A transport road at the southern entrance to Penza was built three years earlier than planned.
"These are decent indicators, the region is showing growth in many areas," stated Igor Komarov.
"The support of the President, state programs, and especially the national projects initiated by the head of state have a tremendous impact on the development of the Penza Oblast," Oleg Melnichenko noted. "As part of national projects and government programs, we are building socially significant facilities in education, healthcare, culture, and social sphere."
An Active Longevity Center has been built and put into operation, four new schools have been opened (including the largest in the VFD in the Sputnik microdistrict), 69 paramedic and obstetric stations, and Russia's first modular district hospital in the village of Chaadayevka in the Gorodishchensky district.
On the same day, the Plenipotentiary Representative held a meeting dedicated to the socio-political development of the region. One of the issues put up for discussion was the preparation for the election of the President of Russia.
Igor Komarov noted that a well-organized voting process, that is, open, transparent and safe elections, is one of the guarantors of the stability of the region's development.
"We see that the work on the preparation of voting in the Penza Oblast is well organized. I am sure that the presidential elections in the Penza Oblast will be legitimate" Igor Komarov stressed.
