Governor and Kuibyshev Railway Head Discuss Cooperation
Society 08.05.2024
Oleg Melnichenko and Vyacheslav Dmitriyev met at the government of the Penza Oblast.
The main topic of the conversation was cooperation in the field of railway transport. In the first quarter of 2024, more than 310 thousand passengers were transported in the Penza Oblast (a 13% increase). Long-distance trains transported more than 172 thousand people, and commuter trains transported more than 138 thousand people.
The increase in passenger traffic was caused, among other things, by the launch of an additional pair of the Surskaya Strela train (Saransk – Penza-1 – Kuznetsk), which switched to daily service from yesterday. Starting from April 28, 2024, additional summer commuter trains will run on the Penza – Belinsky section. From May 12, the Vernadovka – Zemetchino commuter train will start operating again.
Thanks to the cooperation of the management of the Kuibyshev Railway and the government of the Penza Oblast, since the beginning of 2024, it has been possible to triple the volume of cargo transportation of Penza agricultural producers. In the first three months of 2024 alone, 32 grain express trains were sent, the volume of transportation amounted to more than 92 thousand tons. The first container trains with the agricultural products were sent to Nakhodka-Vostochnaya and Zabaikalsk stations.
Last year, the Kuibyshev Railway purchased products from Penza enterprises for 200 million rubles. Vyacheslav Dmitriyev informed Oleg Melnichenko about his readiness to expand cooperation.
"We are ready to support the implementation of innovative projects," said the Kuibyshev Railway head.
"Today's figures are not the limit, especially since we are faced with the task of import substitution," the governor stressed.
An agreement was reached to hold a briefing session on instrumentation and radio electronics in May in order to make a substantive decision on further cooperation.
