It will be attended by students of professional educational organizations of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus, and leading chefs and confectioners of Russia. The festival will last for three days. The grand opening ceremony was held at the Penza Regional Drama Theater.
"The second festival of confectionery skills "Sweet May", on behalf of the Governor Oleg Melnichenko, has acquired an international status. I wish that all three days will be filled with bright events, creative and professional discoveries, " said Oleg Yagov, First Deputy Chairman of the Penza Government of the Penza Region.
The Penza College of Food Industry will host professional skill championships in the following competencies: baking", confectionery, cooking, and professional skills competitions.
This year, participants will receive master classes from leading confectioners and cooks in Russia. Among the honorary guests of "Sweet May" are Tamara Sharova, President of the Moscow Culinary Association, Professor of the Razumovsky Moscow State Technical University, Vice-President of the Moscow Culinary Association, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chefs Guild, Ambassador of the Union of Orthodox Chefs of Russia, Ambassador of Chef Team Russia, participant and prize-winner of various culinary competitions, chef-technologist of the Myastodont company Viktor Klochkov, holder of the recognition badge of the Moscow Culinary Association, brand pastry chef Lyudmila Bukina, member of the Moscow Culinary Association, Ambassador of the Union of Orthodox Chefs of Russia, member of the Chef Team Russia association, winner of the "Battle of Chefs", participant and prize-winner of various culinary competitions, chef of the Karelian Cuisine restaurant "VkareliiEst" in the House of Russian Cuisine at VDNH Mikhail Gavrilov, and brand chef from Moscow James Reduta.
"We have come to hospitable Penza land to make sure that the profession of cook is for the ages. No robots can replace humans here. Only hands, creativity, imagination and professionalism matter. Thank you to the festival organizers and the regional authorities for supporting our professions. This is very important for all of us, " said Tamara Sharova, President of the Moscow Culinary Association, Professor of the Razumovsky Moscow State Technical University.
The event is initiated by the regional government and the Ministry of Education.
On May 17, the grand closing ceremony of the festival will take place in the "House of Officers" center. The winners will be awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts. An exhibition of professional educational organizations "Choosing a profession – choosing the future" with the participation of employers will be held in the lobby before the solemn part, interactive events and master classes for schoolchildren will also take place.
