For the first time the opening ceremony of the Yunarmy military patriotic training camps of the Volga Federal District is being held on the Sura Embankment near the Rostok Monument. On behalf of Igor Komarov, the Presidential Envoy to the VFD, the camp participants were welcomed by his Deputy Oleg Mashkovtsev.

"President Putin has repeatedly noted that educating the younger generation on values of patriotism, respect for the history of the Fatherland and valiant feats of our ancestors is the most important task on which the future of our country depends," Oleg Mashkovtsev stated. "That is why we are implementing the Guardsman project in the Volga Federal District for the most motivated young people who want to devote themselves to serving the country. This is a great opportunity for young people to show their best qualities."

Oleg Melnichenko congratulated residents and guests of the region on the opening of the 10th anniversary military-patriotic training camps of the Volga Federal District. He noted that this year the grand opening takes place in a special atmosphere.

"We are on the embankment of the Sura River, near the Obelisk of Glory. This is one of the main symbols of Penza. The monument bears the names of our fellow countrymen, which we are proud of. Their military and peaceful work is a model for all of us. Today, the opening ceremony is attended by our contemporaries who performed feats in the name of Russia. On behalf of the organizers and participants of the training camp, I thank them for their example of courage and patriotism for the young generation," the governor emphasized. "I am convinced that the young guards, having passed a decent training, will join the ranks of the defenders of our country in a few years."

Hero of Russia Aleksandr Yanklovich (Saratov Oblast), participant of the liberation of the Lugansk People's Republic Aleksandr Grigorenko (Perm Oblast), holders of the Order of Courage Artyom Nikolaev (Penza Oblast) and Aleksandr Tikhonov (Chuvash Republic) became honorary guests of the ceremony.

Aleksandr Yanklovich stressed that residents of all regions of the Volga Federal District are now performing military tasks with honor and dignity on the frontline. He expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Volga Federal District and the Governor of the Penza Oblast for their attention to the patriotic education of the younger generation.

"I am sure that today’s young guards will honor the precepts of our military leaders: from Suvorov to Zhukov, and will be worthy of our soldiers defending the country on the battlefields, " Aleksandr Yanklovich noted. I would like to express my gratitude to the residents of the Penza Oblast for the help and support that you provide to the front. I want to assure you that the victory will definitely be ours. The enemy will be defeated, and we will do everything to ensure that our country lives a peaceful life."

The Guardsman Cup was solemnly handed over to the event director Aleksandr Bulgakov, so that he could later award the winning team. The Strizhi aviation group performed aerobatics for all guests and participants.
