A meeting between the Governor of the Penza Oblast and the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights was held in the regional government. Oleg Melnichenko congratulated Maria Lvova-Belova on the 10th anniversary of Kvartal Lui and emphasized its social significance.
"It helps young people with disabilities to decide on their life, find landmarks, and be socially active," said Oleg Melnichenko, noting that the project is also in demand outside the Penza Oblast.
"Several regions are actively adopting this project, and delegations come to Kvartal Lui to see and study what has been achieved in the Penza Oblast thanks to you," Oleg Melnichenko emphasized.
Maria Lvova-Belova noted the special role of the executive authorities of the Penza Oblast and the Governor personally in the project development.
"There was a synergy under your leadership. It is very valuable that you personally supervise the issues of the social project, and worry about the guys. Few people know that every year Kvartal Lui receives a subsidy partly for the support of children. You allocated land, helped with the infrastructure, and always responded to our requests. All this gave good results. Our project is now recognized as the best in Russia," the Commissioner said.
Oleg Melnichenko expressed his intention to continue contributing to the project, which is essential for people with disabilities. Also, at the meeting, Maria Lvova-Belova informed the Governor about other positive results of activities in the Penza Oblast.
"I see that the Penza Oblast is in the top ten regions of the country both in terms of the number of children in educational institutions and new forms of support for families in difficult life situations. The region has a large service "Children in the family". It is planned to open municipal services by the end of the year. This help will be able to reach everyone," said Maria Lvova-Belova.
She also positively assessed the expansion of the network of youth centers, which help children have an interesting and useful time. Now there are three of them in the region, which is the highest number in the country.
"Three thousand teenagers visit these centers every month and receive the necessary assistance. For example, in Serdobsk, it has become a real place of attraction for children," Maria Lvova-Belova summed up. Concluding the meeting, Oleg Melnichenko noted that the safety and well-being of children in the region is one of the priorities in the work of the government.
"These are the tasks that the President sets for us. Especially related to the Year of the Family, a program to help families, including families where children with disabilities are raised. We will continue to work in this field," Oleg Melnichenko said.
