The Governor of the Penza Oblast and the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sber discussed new areas of cooperation for the development of the region.
Oleg Melnichenko emphasized that Sber is the largest taxpayer in the Penza Oblast and a reliable financial partner in implementing projects aimed at strengthening the local economy and improving the quality of life for residents.
"You’ve probably noticed how much modern housing is being built in Penza. Last year alone, we commissioned 600,000 square meters of multi-family housing. I want to point out that Sber is involved in the majority of our housing projects and programs," said the governor.
The Penza regional government and the bank are working together on important healthcare digitization initiatives. For example, Sber has supported the creation of a digital ECG data archive at Burdenko Hospital, equipped rural health clinics with AI-enabled electrocardiographs, and facilitated the digital transformation of regional ambulance services.
"Today’s meeting showed a strong readiness for large-scale change in the region. We are always open to sharing expertise, solutions, and experience, working together on modernizing infrastructure, developing the economy, education, and healthcare to create comfortable conditions for life and work in the Penza Oblast," emphasized Aleksandr Vedyakhin.
Sber is also contributing to the modernization of the region’s special-purpose vehicle fleet (previously, 12 units of road equipment and 37 units of municipal vehicles were purchased) and public transportation.
"In Belarus, we signed an agreement to supply 60 new Belarusian buses for Penza’s transportation network. We’re very grateful to Sber for the work we’ve done together," said Melnichenko.
One of the key points of discussion was increasing the region’s digital literacy and creating new opportunities for training high-level IT specialists. Vedyakhin stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach: implementing continuous learning digital platforms in schools for both students and teachers, strengthening partnerships with universities to expand remote continuing education, and focusing on IT skill development for educators. Sber and its partner companies offer several platform solutions to support the all-around development of children and youth, as well as the training of IT engineers and teachers.
Melnichenko and Vedyakhin also discussed boosting the Penza Oblast’s tourism appeal. The company is ready to assist in developing data analytics solutions aimed at this goal.
