The XIII International Festival-Workshop of Youth and Young Adult Theaters "Parallel Worlds" took place in Baranovichi, Republic of Belarus. Penza Oblast was represented by the exemplary collective "Harlequin Theater Studio" with their quest-play Lord of the Flies (12+), based on William Golding's novel.
The festival brought together 21 theater groups from Russia and Belarus, with performances competing in two age categories: youth and young adult.
Penza studio took third Place in "Best Performance" category (Youth program) for Lord of the Flies. Valery Karasyov, a studio member, received the "Best Leading Male Role" diploma.
Beyond performances, participants attended masterclasses in theater arts. The "Harlequin" group also visited the Brest Hero-Fortress, touring its Defense Museum and memorial complex.
Background:
The studio previously won second place at the Volga Federal District’s "Theatrical Volga Region" festival (VI season) with the same production. This regional competition operates under the patronage of Igor Komarov, Presidential Envoy to the Volga Federal District.
