The All-Russian competition for young managers "Rural Leaders" has become one of the flagship projects in rural development and training of new personnel for the countryside.
The competition is organized by the All-Russian Youth Public Organization "Russian Union of Rural Youth" (RURY) with support from the Association "VARMSU" and the political party "United Russia". The project is implemented under the "Personnel for Rural Areas" program initiated by RURY and Rosmolodezh.
The competition aims to create a sustainable pool of young managers and opinion leaders in rural areas. Its main objectives include: developing competencies in management and socio-political activities; creating a platform for sharing experiences and best practices; supporting individual professional growth trajectories; and forming a community of like-minded young professionals.
"Rural Leaders is not just a project, but a real tool for reshaping the managerial future of rural territories," noted Dmitry Pekurovsky, Chairman of RURY and member of the Russian Civic Chamber. "It's an opportunity for young people to take responsibility and become the voice and driving force of their small homeland. Last year alone, over 20,000 young people from 89 regions participated, including farmers, students, and activists - all determined, active, and passionate."
The third season promises to be equally large-scale. Registration is now open on the official website лидерысела.рф. Young people aged 18-35 living in rural areas or working on rural development initiatives are invited to participate.
The competition includes: an educational program with online and in-person stages; a series of remote assessments (knowledge tests, motivation and leadership potential evaluations); an in-person final; a mentorship program with top experts and government officials; and opportunities for internships in government bodies with recommendations for personnel reserves.
"This is the only nationwide platform where rural youth can unlock their potential, exchange experiences, and launch their ideas," emphasized Yuliya Ogloblina, Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, RURY leader and competition mentor. "What matters is demonstrating genuine care for your land and concrete actions. Who you are, your team composition, and your ideas: these shape the image of a true rural leader."
