On October 8-10, a major healthcare event took place in Penza Oblast, focused on improving the quality of cancer treatment and diagnosis.
The final event was held as a roundtable discussion at the Penza Regional Clinical Oncology Center.
The discussion on "Conceptual Approaches to Forming a Population-Based Regional Cancer Screening Program" included Rustem Khasanov, Chief Oncologist of the Volga Federal District and the Republic of Tatarstan, Director of the Kazan State Medical Academy (a branch of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education), and Board Member of the Russian Association of Oncologists, along with regional oncology experts.
Deputy Minister of Health of Penza Oblast Natalya Tyugaeva presented a report on organizing medical care for residents of Penza Oblast with oncological diseases.
"Special attention is paid to the prevention and treatment of oncological diseases. New equipment is being supplied to the oncology center, improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients. And, of course, population screening is under special monitoring," she noted.
Natalya Tyugaeva also emphasized that joint efforts and continuous interaction between professional and patient communities can help address various challenges related to organizing cancer care for patients.
The forum in Penza attracted over one thousand participants, with 200 attending in person and other specialists joining the discussion online.
"The hybrid online format expanded the forum's reach, providing access to unique programs for specialists from remote areas of the region," confirmed Anton Stolyarov, Chief Physician of the Regional Clinical Oncology Center.
According to participants, the forum held significant practical value, allowing specialists to exchange experiences and identify pathways for further implementation of new technologies in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in the region.
