The VI All-Russian school competition "Big Break" was held at the International Children's Center "Artek." 1,500 high school students from 79 Russian regions gathered for the finals of the flagship project of the "Movement of the First." Over four days, participants immersed themselves in an atmosphere of creativity and innovation through an extensive competition program, educational events, masterclasses, and meetings with experts from various fields.
To reach the finals, participants had to complete three online stages and an in-person semifinal. During this Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, many tasks were dedicated to intergenerational memory. Penza's Lyceum of Modern Management Technologies No. 2 was represented by five students, all of whom became competition winners.
11th-grade student Elizaveta Suvorova won the competition in the "Change the World Around You" category, receiving 1 million rubles and an educational session at Kazan State University. Classmate Maksim Buzanov became a first-degree winner, also receiving the main prize of 1 million rubles. Aleksandr Misulin (11th grade) and Anastasia Konstantinova (11th grade) were recognized as second-degree winners with grants of 200,000 rubles, while Ivan Zhuravlyov (10th grade) won a second-degree grant of 100,000 rubles.
The students' mentors included Deputy Director for Scientific and Methodological Work Alla Stepanova, Deputy Director for Educational Work Oksana Buzanova, mathematics teacher Larisa Turilkina, and computer science teacher Sergey Adamsky.
Finalists will receive additional points for their achievement portfolios when applying to universities, along with up to 1 million rubles for education and startups. Their supervising teachers will receive awards and opportunities to participate in educational programs.
At "Artek," finalists also explored educational and career opportunities from competition partners, learned about future professions and support programs. Additionally, they attended an exhibition showcasing nationwide projects of the "Movement of the First."
Russia's largest children's competition "Big Break" has been held since 2020, engaging millions of schoolchildren and college students from across Russia.
