The event is timed to coincide with the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus and was organized on the initiative of Governor Oleg Melnichenko. The grand opening took place at the sports and recreation camp "Meridian".
Participants included high school students from military-patriotic clubs of the Penza Region and the Republic of Belarus (Minsk).
Addressing the participants with words of encouragement were Artyom Nikolaev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Penza Oblast and participant in the Presidential Personnel Project "Time of Heroes", and Ilya Kovalyov, Head of the Youth Policy Department of the Regional Government. They highlighted the importance of patriotic education for the younger generation and the role of youth in strengthening friendship between the fraternal peoples.
On the first day of the rally, participants took part in a roundtable discussion with representatives of the regional government, a tactical field game called "The Power of Unity", and a masterclass on the folk crafts of the Penza Oblast.
The rally-forum program is scheduled to last several days. During this time, the high school students will visit historically significant sites in the Penza Region and take part in sporting events. Additionally, a roundtable discussion, "Youth of Russia and Belarus: A Look to the Future", is planned, where participants will discuss issues of concern with representatives of government authorities.
The goal of the "Our Banner of Unity" rally-forum is to strengthen the friendship between the youth of Penza and Belarus, facilitate an exchange of experiences between youth organizations of the two countries, and foster a sense of belonging to a shared history among the younger generation. The rally will conclude on April 3rd.
