A working meeting between the Governor of Penza Oblast and the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic took place in Donetsk.
"I am glad to see you again in the Donetsk People's Republic," Denis Pushilin addressed Oleg Melnichenko. "Since 2022, we have been working in close cooperation. Support is being provided in key areas, which is already developing into genuine friendship. Guys from Penza Oblast are on the front lines, working on road restoration, and cultural and socio-economic cooperation between our regions is strengthening. Of course, after the victory, this will gain momentum; right now we are laying the fundamental foundations."
"I am very glad to see how the Republic is being transformed as it is liberated. I have been here since 2022 and I see how settlements where war recently took place are being rebuilt, how cleanliness and order are being established," responded Oleg Melnichenko.
"Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has repeatedly emphasized the importance of developing ties between Russian regions. Our region is actively working with yours," he added. "In 2022, we started developing trade-economic cooperation and industrial collaboration practically from scratch. In 2023, six Penza enterprises began cooperating with partners in the DPR; today there are already 11. People understand that cooperation must grow and strengthen."
Active cooperation is also underway in the sphere of road construction.
Last year, specialists from the Penza company "Mostovik" reconstructed an overpass in Makeyevka, overhauled the "Donetsk – Novoazovsk – Sedovo" road, and put an overpass in Yenakiyeve into operation.
This year, "Mostovik" employees are working on the federal highway R-280 "Azovskoye Koltso" and have also begun major repairs on three additional roads.
"Our goal is to have as many of our enterprises as possible establish bilateral ties with the DPR. Such work must be systematic," Oleg Melnichenko emphasized.
He invited Denis Pushilin to the All-Russian Poetry Festival, which takes place in July at the Lermontov Museum-Reserve "Tarkhany."
"I will try to attend if no unforeseen events occur in the DPR," Denis Pushilin responded. "In terms of strengthening cooperation between our regions, I will be glad to visit Penza land."
