The program for the young Penza residents' stay in the Republic of Belarus was eventful.
The guys met with students of the Belarusian State University of Transport (Gomel), who are members of youth law enforcement units. They also visited cultural and historical sites and modern industrial enterprises.
Olga Popova, platoon commander of the "Tiger" unit from the Kuznetsk Multidisciplinary College, noted that she was deeply impressed by the memorials telling about the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, as well as about the victims of the Nazis.
"The trip to Gomel and its surroundings left a deep mark on my soul. I was deeply moved by the visit to the memorial to children – victims of fascism in Krasny Bereg – a place where a children's assembly point was located during the war: the documents presented and the testimonies of children's suffering brought tears and a feeling of acute pain for what they endured. The site of the tragedy in the village of Ola, where the Nazis destroyed an entire village along with its residents, including children, made an equally heavy impression. Against the backdrop of these tragic pages of history, it was especially heartening to see the life of modern Gomel: I visited several large enterprises, including Gomselmash, where I saw modern workshops, high-tech production, and the coordinated work of people building a peaceful future. This trip reminded me of the importance of memory and of what our ancestors went to heroic deeds for, so that children would have a safe and bright tomorrow," she said.
Karina Blashkevich from the Penza College of Transport Technologies thanked the organizers for the warm, hospitable welcome. The girl expressed confidence that the friendship between the youth of Penza and Gomel regions will become the foundation for further development of youth movements in Russia and Belarus.
"I received a lot of emotions and learned about the work of youth organizations in Belarus. We got to know the guys from the youth law enforcement units, exchanged experiences and interests," supported her friend's opinion Ksenia Lunina, a fighter from the Belinsky branch of the Kamenka College of Industrial Technologies and Entrepreneurship.
All the guys emphasized that the trip allowed them to see many aspects of the history of the Great Patriotic War in a new light and convinced them of the close bond between the Russian and Belarusian peoples.
The trip of the "Tigers" was initiated by Governor Oleg Melnichenko with the aim of strengthening and developing partnership and friendly contacts between the youth of Penza and Belarus.
