The Governor’s Cup was held at Penza Concert Hall on Wednesday, 27 June 2018.

 The head of the region congratulated participants and fans and noted that it has become a fine tradition to celebrate the Youth Day by organising the Festival of the Club of the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted (or the KVN).

 “I honestly believe that the most beautiful, intelligent, talented and open-minded young people live here in the Penza region,” Ivan Belozertsev stressed.

 “Your active participation will contribute to accomplishing the objective set by the President of the Russian Federation and related to the major breakthrough in economy, science, social sphere and other sectors,” he added. “We hope for our youth and believe that the development of our country depends on each of you”.

 The most brilliant students, their teachers, as well as representatives of volunteer and public organisations were awarded with letters of acknowledgement and gratitude from the governor.

 “I congratulate you on Youth Day,” the head of the region addressed the participants and guests of the festival. “May all your dreams come true! I hope that you will receive decent education, start families, have children and apply your knowledge and skills for the benefit of your native Penza region”.

 “For my part, I promise that the volume of investment in improving the environment for our youth will continue to increase. I consider it possible to announce that I will allocate 100 million roubles for constructing a nice fountain in Penza, the city needs it,” Ivan Belozertsev reported.

 The festival attracted ten KVN teams representing the Penza and Ulyanovsk regions. In addition, the teams from the Yaroslavl and Kirov regions performed hors concours.

 “I want to thank Penza teams and our guests for their subtle humour and funny jokes. I like your performances,” the governor noted. “The sketches struck a chord with spectators. You managed to evoke cheerful mood among the guests of the event”.

 “The Club of the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted will evolve and flourish in Penza”, the head of the region summed up. “In 2018, we will definitely set up the KVN School League, within which we will raise talented children”.

 Ivan Belozertsev also proposed to introduce more award categories at the next festival, as three prizes are too few to commend all impressive performances.

 This year, the team of Penza College of Arts took the third place in the Cup of the Governor, the team of Penza State Agrarian University ranked second.

 The team “Kadetstvo” (Cadetship) from the town of Zarechny won the 3rd Regional Festival of the Club of the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted.
