Saint-Petersburg hosted the final tournament for 1st-4th places of women basketball Superleague 2. During 3 days 4 teams were competing for the medals having one game with each other.
On Monday, April 15th, 2019, the basketball team of Penza’s “Yunost” basketball club beat “Spartak-2” from Noginsk 54:50 and for the first time won the golden medals of Superleague 2.
Earlier in “the final of four” Penza’s basketball team also had been victorious over the second team of “Nadezhda” from Orenburg and with the advantage of only 1 point managed to outplay the winners of the regular championship “Chernie Medvedi - Politekh” from Saint-Petersburg.
The final standings:
1. “Yunost”, Penza region (3 wins – 0 losses).
2. “Chernie Medvedi – Politekh”, Saint-Petersburg (2-1).
3. “Spartak”-2, Noginsk (1-2).
4. “Nadezhda”-2, Orenburg region (0-3).
According to the results of the final leg the best players of the competition were announced. The MVP was awarded to Olga Sizyakova (“Yunost”). The symbolic team included: the point guard Elizaveta Balykova (“Chernie Medvedi – Politekh”), the shooting guard Margarita Dukhina (“Spartak”-2), the small forward Alina Bezborodova (“Spartak”-2), the power forward Natalya Bukur (“Chernie Medvedi – Politekh”), the center Sofia Kornienko (“Nadezhda”-2).
