On Tuesday, February 9, 2021 Ivan Belozertsev and Aleksey Vlasenko, President of the Russian Diving Federation, the Russian Synchronised Swimming Federation, and the Russian Water Polo Federation, discussed the possibility of using the region's sports facilities to organise competitions in this sport.
Aleksey Vlasenko noted that the technical equipment of the region's sports facilities allows holding competitions of the highest level, including the international one. He says, it is proved so by the reviews of sports delegations that visited the Penza Oblast.
"The Penza Oblast has a huge sports base for water sports, it is one of the best in the country," the guest stated.
He informed the head of the region about the growing popularity of a new type of water sport – high diving and suggested to consider the possibility of holding international competitions in Penza. The outdoor swimming pool of the Olympic Reserve School can hold them.
The Governor approved of the idea. He stressed that the technical conditions of this pool allow installation of a special diving board. In addition, the pool is located in a picturesque area near the city centre, which will attract a large number of spectators and create the most comfortable conditions for athletes and fans.
"We are ready," the Governor stated.
He instructed those in charge to get to know the international standards and technical conditions for holding high diving competitions in detail.
