On February 13, the Penza State University students, skiers Aleksandr Bolshunov and Aleksey Chervotkin won Olympic gold medals in the men's 4x10 km relay.
Aleksey Chervotkin was the first to engage in the competition. Despite the difficult weather conditions, he managed to ensure a time reserve for his teammates: when he passed the baton to Aleksandr, the gap from the rivals was 23 seconds. Bolshunov increased this gap to almost a minute. Denis Spitsov took the baton as the third, and Sergey Ustyugov joined the final stage.
The second place was taken by the Norwegian team, the third - by the French team.
Russia took gold in this discipline for the first time in 42 years.
