From May 3 to May 6, Samara hosted the "Hopes of the Avant-Garde" All-Russian competition in rhythmic gymnastics. The athletes representing the "Avangard" sports society, including pupils of the N. Lavrova Penza regional school of the Olympic reserve in gymnastics, took part. This competition is the qualifying stage for the "Young Gymnasts" All-Russian competition, which is held among sports societies.
The first medals were awarded in the all-around in group exercises. According to the 1st category programme among gymnasts born in 2010-2011, the 1st place was taken by the Penza Oblast team consisting of Sofya Sokolovskaya, Sofya Danilkina, Darya Harina, Kamila Yusupova, Valeria Shabayeva and Polina Palina.
