From May 19 to May 24, the Russian Graeco-Roman Wrestling championship among athletes under 16 years old was held in Ufa. About 600 athletes competed for medals, representing 65 regions of the country.
Penza Oblast was represented by pupils of the Integrated Sports School: Arsen Manukyan, Artur Manukyan, and Arseny Ermakov.
Artur Manukyan became the winner of the Russian Championship in the 44 kg weight category. In all six fights, Artur defeated his rivals.
Arsen Manukyan took 3rd place in the 38 kg weight category. He held six bouts and lost only one to a wrestler from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Arsen is a candidate for master of sports and last year he won a silver medal of the Russian Championship.
Arseny Ermakov took 3rd place in the 75 kg weight category. In the semifinal bout, Arseny, unfortunately, lost to an opponent from Novosibirsk.
The athletes' coach is Andrey Brundukov.
Penza athletes were included in the Russian national team and qualified for the finals of the Russian Students' Sports Contest, which will be held in Rostov-on-Don on August 18-21, 2022.
