From June 5 to 8, the first stage of the rhythmic gymnastics competition "Cup of the Strongest" took place at the Gymnastics Palace in Luzhniki (Moscow). The Penza Oblast national team performed well in group exercises. Penza athletes won the golden and silver medals of the tournament.
In the exercise with 2 balls and 3 ribbons, the pupils of the regional school of the Olympic reserve in gymnastics became the winners, ahead of two Nizhny Novgorod teams.
In the exercise with 5 hoops, the gymnasts took second place, passing the St. Petersburg team ahead, the representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast became the third. In total Penza team got into the top four.
Gymnasts Daria Krikukhina, Elizaveta Slesaryova, Sofia Kolchina, Angelina Kilmyaikina, Ksenia Boyarinova, Sofia Bulgakova contributed to the overall success of the team. The team's coaches are Yulia Bogatskova and Irina Filatova.
