Kazan hosted comprehensive international competitions in swimming, diving and synchronized swimming "Friendship Games". More than 1300 athletes from 16 countries of the world, including athletes from the Penza Oblast, took part in them. Swimming competitions started on July 21. Aleksandr Kharlanov from Penza won bronze in 200 meters butterfly.
Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Penza Oblast Yevgeniya Bochkaryova visited the competition at the invitation of the President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov.
"The Ministry of Sports of Russia is finding new forms of international competitions. Today it is the "Friendship Games" – a large-scale sporting event. Everyone understands that athletes need competitive practice, and the Games are a great opportunity for the strongest athletes to show what they are capable of," Yevgeniya Bochkaryova said.
Diving competitions were held from 24 to 30 July. Five representatives of the Penza Oblast take part in them. These are Yevgeny Kuznetsov, Igor Myalin, Alina Arefyeva, Ivan Karpov, and Artyom Levin.
