All-Russian track and field competition "Champions for Russia" was held in Penza. The tournament was held in the Olympic Sports College. Boys and girls under 14 and under 16 competed for medals. Penza Oblast representatives won 18 medals of various denominations.
Yelizaveta Yegorova became first in the shot put, Yelizaveta is coached by Aleksandr Tsarkov.
Artyom Izhnin won gold medal among boys under 14 years old in the 1500 m steeplechase. At a distance of 1000 m, Artyom, who is coached by Viktor Kirin, finished second.
The first place in the 400 m race was won by Viktoria Trifonova, who also came second in the 600 m race. She is coached by Kristina and Roman Krasnov.
Yakov Morozkin won silver in a hard-fought fight at a distance of 60 m. The athlete's coach is Sergey Syomin.
Kseniya Surkova took second place in the 1500 m steeplechase among athletes under 14 years of age. The athlete is coached by Denis Bashkirtsev.
Relay teams also performed well.
The Penza team, consisting of Andrey Zhizhenkov, Artyom Kosarev, Mikhail Tsibizov and Roman Izmailov, won the 4x200m relay among boys under 14. The coaches are Svetlana Zhizhenkova and Olga Kopylova.
The team consisting of Yakov Morozkin, Aleksey Shilov, Aleksandr Kuzmin and Aleksander Savosin won silver among boys under 16. The coaches are Sergey Syomin, Vladimir Korablyov, Natalya Kabanova and Andrey Zinukov.
The regional team also won silver among girls under 16 years of age. Arina Makarenko, Yulia Nikolikhina, Yeva Zoreva and Viktoria Trifonova contributed to the overall success. The athletes are coached are Olga Kopylova, Aleksandr Tsarkov, and Kristina and Roman Krasnov.
