On April 22, the European Sambo Championship ended in Israel. Two athletes from the Penza Oblast won gold medals.
Anastasiya Popova made her triumphant debut at the European Championship and won two bouts (wins by submission) in the 47 kg weight category.
Another Penza athlete Sofya Soluyanova added a gold medal to the asset of the Russian national team. She became the best in the 50 kg weight category. The athlete won one fight by submission, and the second one with a score of 1:0. Sofya has already performed at the international level. Last year, she became the world champion, and now she has added the gold of the European Championship to her awards.
