The Penza Oblast team won silver medals of the Russian Gymnastics Championship. Penza gymnasts scored 212, 450 points. 365.725 points (together with qualifying scores) allowed the athletes from the Penza School of Olympic Sports to take silver. Yegor Ponomaryov, Arseniy Voronkov, Igor Kazantsev and Dmitry Sanyan contributed to the overall success.
Gymnasts are coached by Aleksei Mamonov and Evgeny Iskorkin.
The first place was taken by the team of the Republic of Tatarstan with a total of 373,400 points. Moscow-1 team (365,125 points) got bronze.
The competition was attended by honored guests: Penza Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Evgeniya Bochkaryova, senior coach of the Russian national gymnastics team Valentina Rodionenko, Vice-President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation Valentina Nikanorova, Olympic champion Denis Ablyazin, and Director of the Olympic Gymnastics School Oleg Minkarsky.
