The 4th Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games ended in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. From January 8 to 13, 2025, 224 young athletes from Russia and China showcased their skills in nine Olympic sports. The closing ceremony took place on January 13, 2025.
Ruslana Dyakova, a PSU student, earned a bronze medal in the women’s 10 km classic cross-country race. Arina Roshchina and Zarina Kutlumbayeva also achieved good results, finishing in 4th and 5th place, respectively.
“This has been an intense, bright, and memorable week, filled with athletic achievements and genuine emotions. Athletes from both of our countries demonstrated a high level of skill and a strong will to win in fair competition. But most importantly, during this time, we became a little closer and strengthened our friendship,” said Russian Minister of Sports, Mikhail Degtyaryov.
Russian athletes earned a total of 82 medals at the event: 28 gold, 29 silver, and 25 bronze.
The Russian-Chinese Youth Games are a vibrant symbol of friendship and mutual respect between our nations. The event began in 2016 with its inaugural edition in Harbin, China. Since then, every four years, athletes from both countries meet at the Winter Games, alternating between host cities. The competition was held as part of the state program "Development of Physical Culture and Sports."
