The Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District and the Governor of Penza Oblast attended a match at the Diesel Arena. The Penza "Diesel-Sledge" team played a friendly game against Nizhny Novgorod's "Storm", with both teams consisting of veterans from the special military operation.
Oleg Melnichenko informed Igor Komarov that this tournament marked the debut appearance for Penza's regional team. The Penza Oblast team was formed in March 2025 and currently has 11 athletes who train several times a week. Equipment and sledges were provided by the Diesel hockey club, with sledge hockey serving as one of the rehabilitation programs for special military operation veterans.
Igor Komarov expressed his support for the Penza players, praised the strong team spirit displayed during the match, and wished them good health. "We can see your strong desire to play, and we will definitely support you," the envoy told the athletes.
Team curator Dmitry Kadenkov, President of Penza's Hockey Federation and State Duma deputy, shared their plans: "Next year we're ready to join the professional club structure. We have all the necessary equipment, and the entire Diesel club system supports us - besides ice training, the guys work out in the gym and use the pool. I'm confident our team has a future, and the players are happy with their progress."
