Ivan Belozertsev underlined the importance of the victory of the Penza youth ice hockey team at the briefing in the regional government on Monday, 23 April 2018.
“Last week, the hockey players from the Penza Dizelist triumphed in the National Youth Hockey League and won the Cup of Regions,” the governor recalled during the discussion of sports development.
“Aleksey Vaulin, whose work resulted in the championship of our youth team, was appointed the new head coach of the ice hockey team Diesel,” he reported.
The head of the region highlighted the significance of developing children and youth sports schools, which provide the basis for future achievements in all sports, whether swimming, track-and-field, rhythmic gymnastics or hockey.
“We should meet with coaching staff and representatives of sports federations more often, discuss challenging issues and assist in addressing them,” Ivan Belozertsev instructed the officials.
“High performance sport primarily rests on the successful work of children and youth sports schools,” he stressed.
In addition, the governor encouraged to maintain the commitment to implement the regional programme on swimming lessons for children, both in Penza and in the municipalities of the region.
